Dr Mary Qian

Dr Mary Qian is a respiratory and sleep physician who attained her medical degree through the University of Melbourne. She undertook her specialist training through the Western Hospital, Melbourne Sleep Disorders Centre and Royal Melbourne Hospital. She then further developed her subspecialty interests through a series of fellowships in the United Kingdom. 

She worked in the Cystic Fibrosis & Bronchiectasis unit, and then the Interstitial Lung Disease unit at the Oxford University Hospitals, where she gained extensive experience in the assessment, diagnosis and management of the full range of interstitial lung diseases. Subsequently, she worked in the Respiratory Support & Sleep Centre at the Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge, the UK’s leading specialist cardiothoracic hospital, and further developed her expertise in sleep disorders and use of home non-invasive ventilation.

She has been primary or co-author on a number of publications in respiratory and sleep medicine, including a meta-analysis on the efficacy of cognitive behavioural therapy for insomnia (CBT-i) published in the Annals of Internal Medicine.

Dr Qian holds public appointments at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Western Hospital. She is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia & New Zealand, Australasian Sleep Association and the European Respiratory Society, and regularly attends national and international conferences to ensure she continues to provide a high level of care to her patients.
