Prof Glen Westall

Professor Glen Westall is a highly regarded lung specialist, specifically in the fields of lung fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and lung transplantation.

Prof Westall received his undergraduate medical training at King’s College Medical School in London, before training in general and respiratory medicine at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London and the Alfred Hospital, Melbourne. He is a Consultant Chest and Lung Transplant Physician at the Alfred, where he provides a bronchoscopic service and in-patient care.

Prof Westall’s PhD in respiratory medicine resulted in a number of original research publications, as well as recognition through the Thoracic Society’s Young Investigator Award. He oversees an active research program that has received both national and international research grants and awards. He is principal investigator on numerous studies in COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, bronchoscopic lung volume reduction and lung transplantation. He is regularly invited overseas to give lectures on lung disease.

Prof Westall is a member of the Thoracic Society of Australia and New Zealand, the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand, and the International Society of Heart and Lung Transplantation. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) and a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) (UK).

He is a foundation member of the Interstitial Lung Disease Collaborative Research Consortium.
